East Cumbria VTS is an innovative training organisation in the north west of England, run by enthusiastic GP training programme directors.

The Scheme's main purpose is to provide a postgraduate training programme for doctors who wish to pursue a career in General Practice. We do this under the umbrella of the Northern Deanery GP Directorate.

We are one of four training schemes in the Northern Deanery - there are also schemes in West Cumbria, Cleveland and Northumbria.

The scheme office is in Carlisle, and our training practices are located mainly in North Cumbria, with one practice just over the border in South West Scotland.

The "Scheme" part of the website aims to provide you with up to date information about the scheme: its location, the scheme personnel, the training practices, the hospital posts and the half day release course. We tell you about some of our newer opportunities such as integrated training posts. There are details about how to apply to the scheme and relevant websites.
